Movies, TV Series, Shorts, and more

For Ages 6 and Older

Here you will find a list of age appropriate media for children around age 6 or older.

In this age range, you will find the movies/show/shorts are all relatively gentle. Conflict is minor, generally filled with humor, and with no ambiguity as to who the ‘bad guy’ is, if a villain is present at all. All films end happily with very minor peril for characters and uncertainty or tension is brief and quickly resolved. Most of the recommendations here are Movies (defined as films over an hour long), with some Shorts (defined as a single contained movie of less than an hour length) or Series (defined as a string of episodes - which can be of any length, but are usually half an hour or an hour).

Generally, children at age six are growing in their attention spans, so while a child may genuinely enjoy a longer movie, they may still not be able to sit still for an extended period.

All the films in this list are recommended - we don’t list anything that we would give a negative review for. So here are the best movie for your six year old.

Each recommendation has a review link (for summary, warnings, and other details). In addition to a review link, each film has a link to the web site JustWatch.com, which will give suggestions on where to find the film for streaming (whether free, as a rental, or for purchase). We have no affiliate links nor make any money on these recommendations.

As a disclaimer, this list is by no means perfect. Please use discernment and heed the warnings in the reviews if you are at all concerned about a particular recommendation. Also, while everything in this list has been viewed at least once, not every single episode of a series will have been watched and it is possible that offensive material has been overlooked.

Age 6+

Here is a list of the best Movies (defined as longer than an hour), Shorts (single feature less than an hour), and TV series (or serials). If it is on this list, then it is appropriate for most children ages 6 and higher, and at least has a better than average change of being interesting to that age group.
